For Pastors and Elders

Who is asking,
and what we ask.

If a letter from this house hath reached thee, here is the plain account, set down before any conversation: who we are, where we differ from thee, what we would ask, and what we never shall.

I

Who is asking

The Congregation of Tomorrow is a small church, begun by one household, rooted in the Christian Scriptures: “a developing religious community rooted in engagement with the Christian scriptures.” It gathereth on Saturdays at ten in the morning, at the Ribault Column on St. Johns Bluff in Jacksonville, Florida.

It is new. Its website dateth from October 2026, and its door is shut for its first year, until the sixth of September, 2027. It is not the Cathedral of Tomorrow of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and hath no tie to it.

II

Where we differ from thee

We say this before anything else, so that no conversation beginneth under a false light.

Of God. We hold “God is becoming” as our declared theological conviction: humanity’s hoped-for growth in care, understanding and responsibility. We never make technological power alone the measure of divinity.

Of Jesus. We read his life every year. In our own words: “He was real and died under Pilate. He grew in wisdom, was made perfect, and went first: the firstfruits of what we are becoming.” Claims about his divinity and bodily resurrection we hold explicitly unresolved, and we announce no settlement of the Trinity on anyone’s behalf.

Of salvation. We commit to helping one another now, and we leave ultimate salvation an open question, neither guaranteeing rescue nor claiming to have disproved it.

Of Scripture. The Bible is our primary inherited religious text. Our own papers stay revisable human work, and we pass the Book on with our readings clearly marked as ours.

Thou wilt likely hold some of these things settled. We do not ask thee to agree, and a conversation with us is no endorsement either way.

Each of these, with the day it was ruled and where it standeth: The Plain Facts.

III

What we would ask of thee

  1. Thy church’s story, in thine own words, for the Witness: how it began, what it confesseth, how it worshippeth and serveth its neighbors. Thou seest every word before anything is shared, thou mayst set aside any question, and thou mayst withdraw.
  2. Whether we have thy tradition right, if the Atlas hath written of it. A correction with a source is always welcome, by Lend a Hand or by letter.

That is all.

What we shall never do

V

To say no, or to say yes

To say no, thou needest do nothing. Or write one line to ask@congregationoftomorrow.org, and we shall not write again.

To say yes, offer an interview, or write to ask@congregationoftomorrow.org. A person of the house readeth every letter and answereth within a week.
