Field Deck — companion to Dossier XXIII · The Unification Church
The House Divided Three Ways
The Ace is in a Seoul courtroom, and her two sons have built rival churches to replace her
✜ How to read the deck — and why the Ace is a defendantNo deck in this hall has an Ace this exposed.Hak Ja Han Moon — "Mother Han" — has led the movement
worldwide since her husband's death in 2012, and as of July 2026 she is in detention, indicted, and
facing closing arguments in a Seoul bribery and church-politics-collusion case; prosecutors have sought
thirteen years. She is not merely alive and in power — she is currently the most legally exposed
religious leader carded anywhere in this hall.
♠ Spades — The Throne. The Family Federation's own leadership, still loyal to Mother Han.
♦ Diamonds — The Rivals. Her own sons, each building a church to succeed her instead of waiting.
♣ Clubs — The Political Wing. UPF, the Washington Times, and the politicians who share a stage with them.
♥ Hearts — NOT DEALT. See the stamp.
✓ All 14 verified online 2026-07-28.⚠︎★ THE CATCH THIS DECK FOUND: the succession fight is not a rumour, it is two fully built rival
institutions.Hyung Jin "Sean" Moon runs a church that blesses couples holding AR-15 rifles,
believing the rifle is the "rod of iron" of Revelation; his brother Kook-jin "Justin" Moon co-founded it
with him while running an actual firearms manufacturer; and Preston (Hyun-jin) Moon, once the
heir apparent, broke away years earlier to run a separate international wing. Mother Han still governs the
main body from a Seoul detention cell.⚠︎ ♥ IS NOT DEALT. The natural fourth suit is the millions of ordinary Blessed couples worldwide —
and no living, nameable figure represents them as a bloc; they are the subject of Section IV, not a hand of
cards. Padding this suit would have meant inventing spokesmen for people who have none.

2012– · Leader, Family Federation for World Peace and Unification · "Mother Han," "True Mother"
★ Worldwide leader of the movement since her husband Sun Myung Moon's death in 2012 , and co-founder of its theology as his wife since 1960. ⚠︎ Indicted October 2025 and detained since; closing arguments held 10 July 2026 in a Seoul court on bribery, illegal political-donation and evidence-destruction charges — accused of arranging gifts of a luxury handbag and diamond necklace to a former South Korean first lady, and of channelling political donations to ruling-party lawmakers. Prosecutors sought a 13-year prison term (5 years on the political-funds charge, 8 on the rest); the Seoul court has set the first-instance verdict for 31 AUGUST 2026. Aged 83. This is the most time-sensitive card in the hall — it resolves within a fortnight of this reading. Han appealed (filed Fri 2026-09-04, Korea JoongAng Daily) and so did the special counsel (2026-09-04, Korea Times). On 2026-09-29 the Seoul High Court extended her detention suspension (shoulder-fracture surgery, vision) to 2026-10-20. First appeal hearing and bail hearing are set for 2026-11-13. Card self-check: says 'indicted Oct 2025'; she was arrested 2025-09-23. UNSOURCED: closing arguments 2026-07-10, 5+8 split of the 13 years.
Legal name Hyun-jin Moon ; Harvard-educated, once regarded as heir apparent before his younger brother Sean was installed as FFWPU president in 2008. former South Korean lawmaker · convicted, seat lost July 2026
⚠︎ CONVICTED, AND NO LONGER A LAWMAKER. On 16 July 2026 the Supreme Court upheld a two-year prison term and he lost his parliamentary seat — a five-term People Power Party member, found to have taken the 100-million-won political donation arranged through the church. The appeal court held that buying access to state power fundamentally infringes the separation of religion and state . The card exists to show the case is not a persecution narrative in the abstract — it names a specific politician, a specific sum, and now a final conviction. Former First Lady of South Korea · recipient in the bribery case
⚠︎ The alleged recipient of the luxury gifts at the centre of the case against Han — a designer handbag and diamond necklace, given in 2022 to curry favour with her husband Yoon Suk Yeol , then incoming president. Convicted in her own right, in two separate cases. In the Unification Church case a first-instance court gave her 1 year 8 months on 28 January 2026 and acquitted her of stock manipulation; on 28 April 2026 the Seoul High Court raised it to FOUR YEARS , overturning that acquittal. A separate first-instance bribery case brought seven years on 26 June 2026 , which she is appealing. The detail to hold is the direction: on appeal the church case got graver on second look, not lesser. 4 yrs on appeal 28 Apr · 7 yrs separate case 26 Jun · verified 08-26 ⚠︎ Re-checked 2026-10-08: Two separate cases. (1) Church-gifts plus Deutsch Motors stock case: 4 years on appeal (2026-04-28). The Supreme Court did not rule on 2026-07-24; it referred the case to the full bench on 2026-07-23 (Korea Times), with a full-bench session on 2026-09-29. No ruling yet. (2) Jobs-for-gifts case: 7 years (2026-06-26) cut to 5 on 2026-09-22; both sides appealed to the Supreme Court (2026-09-23, 2026-09-28).
The Korean-American executive who launched The Washington Times for Sun Myung Moon in 1982. The paper remains, through News World Communications and TWT Holdings, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity — the church's formal legal name — to this day. Historical founding role · verified 07-28 ⚠︎ Re-checked 2026-10-08: CORRECTION: Bo Hi Pak, not Joo, was the paper's founding president in 1982; Joo was president later and stepped down in 2012. News World Communications sold the paper in 2010; owner is now Operations Holdings (Washington Times, 2025-02-11). UNSOURCED: TWT Holdings.

Hyung Jin "Sean" Moon
Leader, Rod of Iron Ministries / World Peace and Unification Sanctuary
★ Installed as FFWPU president by his father in 2008 at 28, then broke away entirely to found a rival church outside Scranton, Pennsylvania, in 2017 with his brother Justin. Its ceremonies bless couples holding AR-15 rifles , read as the "rod of iron" of Revelation. Has cultivated MAGA-world ties — Trump-family connections, an annual Freedom Festival that drew Steve Bannon, and links to NRA board members. The Southern Poverty Law Center calls it "an antigovernment Christian gun cult." Active, leading rival church · verified 07-28 ⚠︎ Re-checked 2026-10-08: CORRECTION: SPLC (2021-10-08) says Sean Moon founded the Sanctuary Church in 2013, not 2017. The SPLC article does not contain the card's 'antigovernment Christian gun cult' quote (it says 'gun-toting, anti-LGBTQ'), so the quote is UNSOURCED. FFWPU president 2008 at 28 per Wikipedia. UNSOURCED: Trump-family connections, NRA board links.
CEO, Kahr Arms · co-founder, Rod of Iron Ministries
⚠︎ Harvard economics degree, Miami MBA, and CEO of an actual firearms manufacturer — Kahr Arms, held through Saeilo Inc., itself part of the Tongil ("Unification") Group conglomerate in Seoul. Co-founded Rod of Iron Ministries with his brother Sean — critics call the arrangement a walking contradiction of a movement that preaches peace; supporters call it the Second Amendment made devotional. Ongoing corporate and family litigation, DC courts
The parent body and the breakaway sons have been in and out of US federal court for years over control of American church assets and corporate identity — a family succession fight conducted as intellectual-property and corporate law , not as theology. The DC Court of Appeals has handled multiple rounds as recently as 2025. Ongoing · verified 07-28 ⚠︎ Re-checked 2026-10-08: No longer ongoing: DC Court of Appeals affirmed on 2025-07-03 (Nos. 23-CV-0836/7/8), ending 14-year suit; US Supreme Court denied certiorari 2026-03-09. CORRECTION: the defendants were Preston Moon and UCI, not the Rod of Iron sons.

Yoon Suk Yeol
Former President of South Korea
⚠︎ The politician the alleged bribery was meant to influence. His administration is the one Han allegedly sought favour from through gifts to his wife and donations to his party's lawmakers. He was separately removed from office and jailed on unrelated martial-law charges in this same period — his own former prime minister received 23 years in a related case. Out of office, separately jailed · verified 07-28 ⚠︎ Re-checked 2026-10-08: Yoon's insurrection appeal (Seoul High Court) is still open, with its 20th hearing on 2026-10-08 and no verdict date found. Separate obstruction case rose to 7 years on appeal (2026-04-29) and is now at the Supreme Court. Changed: ex-PM Han Duck-soo's 23 years was cut to 15 on appeal (2026-05-07, Wikipedia).
The prosecutorial body that indicted Han, argued the closing case on 10 July 2026, and formally sought a 13-year prison term — explicitly framing the charge, in its own words, as "violation of the constitutional principle of separation of church and state." Active, verdict pending · verified 07-28 ⚠︎ Re-checked 2026-10-08: No longer pending: verdict delivered 2026-08-31, two years combined against the 13 years the team sought. Live: appeal stage. ⚠︎ Why the ♥ suit is emptyThe natural fourth suit is the ordinary Blessed couple — the millions of members whose defining experience
of this movement is the mass wedding ceremony itself, not the leadership fight above them. No living,
nameable figure represents that body as a bloc, and estimates of how many of them there even still are
range from roughly 250,000 to several million depending entirely on who is counting and why. An
invented spokesman for a number nobody agrees on would be worse than an empty suit. See Dossier XXIII,
