Fully religious — theistic Satanism fused with neo-Nazism

Who led it

Attributed to DAVID MYATT (b.1950), a former neo-Nazi organiser and, for a period, a convert to radical Islam, writing as ANTON LONG. THE ATTRIBUTION IS CONTESTED AND UNRESOLVED. Myatt denies it. Several academics regard Long as probably a Myatt pseudonym, citing publication history, biographical overlap and stylistic similarity; PROFESSOR JEFFREY KAPLAN HOLDS THE OPPOSITE VIEW — that they are two different people, and that Long was a friend of Myatt in the 1970s and 1980s. THE PUBLIC RECORD DOES NOT RESOLVE IT and this file does not assert that it does. The ONA has no leadership by design; it operates as a leaderless network of cells (nexions).

What it worshipped and taught

A genuinely theistic Satanism in which the Dark Gods are real and the aim is to cause the collapse of Western civilisation, called the AEONIC strategy. Doctrine explicitly endorses INSIGHT ROLES — six to eighteen months spent inside extremist groups of any kind, to gain experience and destabilise Western society — and human sacrifice of victims it calls OPFERS, judged by their own character faults. Texts advocate rape and sexual manipulation as tools. Unlike the Church of Satan (048), this is not symbolic and the violence is not metaphorical.

Who was in it

David Myatt / Anton Long (contested identity); the Tempel ov Blood, an American offshoot; ATOMWAFFEN DIVISION and THE BASE, accelerationist neo-Nazi terror networks with documented O9A influence; ETHAN MELZER, a US Army private and O9A adherent who passed details of his own unit, the 173rd Airborne Brigade, for a planned attack in Turkey — he pleaded guilty in June 2022 and was sentenced to 45 years in March 2023; the RAPEWAFFEN and 764 networks, involved in online child sexual exploitation and coercion.

How it ended, or where it stands

Active and diffuse; explicitly designed to be unbannable.

The dead

Multiple murders and terror plots by adherents. The 764 network is linked to several suicides of minors, and by September 2025 was the subject of more than 250 active FBI investigations

Of note

The genuinely dangerous Satanic group, and the answer to a question the Satanic Panic asked forty years too early. Note the structural inversion: the 1980s panic hunted for a hierarchical Satanic conspiracy that did not exist, while the real threat when it arrived was leaderless, online, and specifically engineered to be untraceable.

Its timeline

  1. 1970s–1980s The order's texts circulate from Shropshire through the occult underground; the order itself claims origins in the 1960s.
  2. 1990s–2000s Material spreads via the internet; the order deliberately encourages anyone to adopt the name.
  3. 2018 onward UK and US authorities identify O9A influence in terrorism cases; members of the US offshoot TEMPEL OV BLOOD hold key positions in ATOMWAFFEN DIVISION. In 2020 the UK proscribes the Sonnenkrieg Division, Atomwaffen's British branch. The O9A ITSELF IS STILL NOT PROSCRIBED IN THE UK, despite calls since 2020.
  4. JUNE 2022 – MARCH 2023 ETHAN MELZER pleads guilty to attempting to murder US service members and providing material support to terrorists, and is sentenced to 45 years.
  5. 2021–present The 764 network, which adopted O9A imagery and coerces minors into self-harm and sexual abuse on camera, becomes an FBI priority.
  6. MARCH 2025 JACK ROCKER, 19, of Tampa, a 764 member, is sentenced to 84 MONTHS for possessing child sexual abuse material.
  7. 22 APRIL 2025 LEONIDAS VARAGIANNIS ('War'), 21, a US citizen living in Greece, and PRASAN NEPAL ('Trippy'), 20, of North Carolina, alleged leaders of the subgroup 764 INFERNO, are arrested and charged with running a GLOBAL CHILD EXPLOITATION ENTERPRISE.
  8. SEPTEMBER 2025 The FBI is reported to have more than 250 open investigations tied to 764, involving grooming, sextortion, coerced self-harm and abuse material.
  9. 7 DECEMBER 2025 NEW ZEALAND DESIGNATES THE ORDER OF NINE ANGLES A TERRORIST ENTITY, citing among other things the Melzer plot. Canada designates two O9A cells the same day.
  10. 19 DECEMBER 2025 ALEXIS ALDAIR CHAVEZ ('Zack'), 19, of San Antonio, a 764 leader, pleads guilty to racketeering and child pornography charges.
  11. 17 FEBRUARY 2026 THE US HOUSE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE WRITES TO FBI DIRECTOR KASH PATEL about the 764 network, pressing on the federal response.
  12. MARCH 2026 ERIK LEE MADISON, 20, of Halethorpe, Maryland, pleads guilty to sexual exploitation of a child and cyberstalking involving AT LEAST TEN MINOR FEMALE VICTIMS.

MANY RESEARCHERS IDENTIFY HIM AS THE AUTHOR BEHIND 'ANTON LONG'; HE DENIES IT, and PROFESSOR JEFFREY KAPLAN ARGUES THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE, Long having been a friend of Myatt in the 1970s and 1980s. The identification rests on publication history, biographical overlap and stylistic analysis rather than on anything conclusive, AND THE RECORD DOES NOT SETTLE IT. The O9A has no leadership by design: it is a leaderless network of cells, and its texts explicitly encourage anyone to adopt the name. Doctrine endorses 'insight roles' — six to eighteen months spent inside extremist groups to gain experience and destabilise Western society — and human sacrifice of victims it calls 'opfers'. Unlike LaVey's symbolic Satanism, this is theistic and the violence is not metaphorical.

Before the law. Myatt has convictions for violent disorder arising from his political activity. HE HAS NEVER BEEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE O9A, and no court has ever found him to be Anton Long.

Where things stand. Living. THE ORDER IS DELIBERATELY DESIGNED TO BE UNBANNABLE and remains active and diffuse, though New Zealand designated it a terrorist entity in December 2025. It is not proscribed in the UK.
