### Its timeline
- 1998 NXIVM founded; Executive Success Programs begins running intensives.
- 2003–2017 THE MONEY. By 2003, 3,700 people had taken the Executive Success Programs course, and Forbes reported more than 16,000 five-day intensives sold at about 2,700 dollars each; some intensives cost 7,500. At its height NXIVM had about 700 active members. Prosecutors said CLARE BRONFMAN spent millions of dollars of her inherited fortune on Raniere's ventures over more than a decade.
- 2003 Forbes profiles Raniere; Edgar Bronfman Sr. is quoted calling NXIVM a cult — his daughters commit to it anyway.
- 2003–2017 An aggressive litigation and private-investigation campaign is run against former members, journalists and critics, funded largely by Clare Bronfman.
- 2015 DOS founded.
- 17 OCTOBER 2017 The New York Times publishes Barry Meier's report on the branding, based on Sarah Edmondson's account. The organisation begins to collapse within days.
- MARCH 2018 Raniere is arrested in Mexico and brought to the United States, appearing first in federal court in Fort Worth, Texas.
- 2018–2019 Nancy Salzman, Lauren Salzman, Allison Mack, Clare Bronfman and Kathy Russell all plead guilty.
- 19 JUNE 2019 RANIERE CONVICTED on all counts: racketeering, sex trafficking, forced labour conspiracy, wire fraud conspiracy, and possession of child pornography relating to a 15-year-old girl.
- 27 OCTOBER 2020 Sentenced to 120 YEARS and a 1.75-million-dollar fine; later ordered to pay 3.4 million dollars to 21 victims.
- 2020–2021 CLARE BRONFMAN sentenced to 81 months (September 2020); ALLISON MACK to 3 years (June 2021, released 2023); NANCY SALZMAN to 42 months and LAUREN SALZMAN to probation (September 2021).
- 2020–2022 HBO's The Vow and Starz's Seduced bring the case to a mass audience.
- 27 OCTOBER 2025 The Second Circuit Court of Appeals REJECTS Raniere's three appeals — against the denial of his third motion for a new trial, the refusal to reopen discovery, and the refusal of Judge Garaufis to recuse himself — finding a mountain of evidence behind the child exploitation predicates. The appeals had alleged that FBI agents fabricated or tampered with the hard drive and camera holding the child pornography evidence, and sought the recusal of Judge Garaufis.
- March 2026 The Second Circuit again affirms the denial, finding Raniere identified no newly discovered evidence, showed no prosecutorial suppression, and that the trial evidence was sufficient. He continues to serve 120 years. He was moved out of USP Tucson, Arizona, in December 2025 and is reported to be at FCI Butner, North Carolina (reported chiefly by Frank Report, an outlet run by a longtime NXIVM opponent).

NOTE: the granular transfer tracking comes substantially from Frank Report, an outlet run by a longstanding NXIVM opponent; the fact of the December 2025 transfer out of Tucson is more broadly reported.
