### Its timeline
- 1919 The Vailala Madness in the Gulf District of Papua — mass trembling, destruction of traditional ritual objects, predictions of a steamer of ancestors.
- c.1936–1940 John Frum first reported on Tanna. Colonial and mission authorities imprison followers; the movement grows.
- 1942–1945 About 300,000 American troops pass through Melanesia, bringing an overwhelming quantity of material goods — the direct trigger for the classic cargo phase.
- 15 February John Frum Day, celebrated annually on Tanna with US-style flag raising and drill parades. Still observed.
- 1974 Prince Philip visits Vanuatu aboard the royal yacht; the Yaohnanen movement crystallises.
- 1978 onward Photographs exchanged between Prince Philip and Yaohnanen village.
- 9 APRIL 2021 Prince Philip dies aged 99. News reaches Tanna the same day. JEAN-PASCAL WAHÉ of the Vanuatu Cultural Centre reports that islanders expect his SPIRIT TO COME TO TANNA.
- APRIL 2021 THE SUCCESSION IS GENUINELY OPEN, AND DISCUSSED AS SUCH. Yakel village chief Albi: 'The spirit of Prince Philip has left his body, but it lives on; it is too soon to say where it will reside.' Elders indicate allegiance may transfer to PRINCE CHARLES through a SPECIAL KAVA RITUAL — but only if he wishes to hold the title. If not, the spirit may pass to another of Philip's adult children, or to a grandchild, and the connection continue through them.
- 2021–2026 The movement persists across the Yaohnanen and Yakel villages; rituals continue. Philip's death did not end it.
